LAB University of Applied Sciences was born out of a desire to reform higher education and working life – to make work more meaningful.
At LAB University of Applied Sciences, you can study social and health care, technology, business administration, hotel, restaurant and tourism, as well as design, visual arts and visual communication. LAB’s Design Institute continues the long traditions of the Lahti Design Institute and the Imatra School of Art. In addition, we offer open university studies to all at the Open University of Applied Sciences, as well as continuing and specialization training for those who have already completed a university degree.
LAB has campuses in Lahti, Lappeenranta and online, more than 8,500 students and 500 teachers and RDI experts. LAB’s turnover is approximately EUR 65 million and it is the sixth largest polytechnic in Finland in terms of the number of students.
As a name, LAB embodies the vision and operating culture of the Innovation College of Working Life, and describes active doing, where different people and experts create something new together with companies.
The rector of LAB University of Applied Sciences is Turo Kilpeläinen . Henri Karppinen and Merja Heino are the vice- rectors .
Our operations are directed by the Board of LAB University of Applied Sciences, chaired by Juha-Matti Saksa , Rector of LUT University .
